BAR HARBOR NIGHT ONE

From Boston it was a bit of a drive to Bar Harbor, Maine. We were headed to MDI- Mount Desert Island- which is home to an incredible national park, Acadia! The drive alternated good weather with rain and a good amount of fog. It actually got super foggy right before we crossed the bridge to MDI but once we crossed over it was gorgeous! Our place was not an Airbnb place here but an inn called The Bayview.

This place was beautiful and we found out just how accommodating they are too- freshly baked cookies/treats every afternoon, a full, homemade breakfast each morning, a free shuttle that would take you to/from the town, and the people were just so nice!

All rooms are ocean-facing and the view from our balcony of the Atlantic was just ideal.

After settling in and actually getting to unpack a bit since we were here for 3 nights (the longest stretch in one place of our vacation) we walked into town for dinner. It was a beautiful evening and we made our way to Side Street Cafe for a wonderful dinner. This was a casual place that does food right! I had a delicious and refreshing champagne/elderflower drink and we shared a “for one” chips and homemade guacamole.

Zach’s dinner was a some type of spicy burger that was really, really good.

It had potential to be the best dish at the table but couldn’t stand up against my amazing meal- Lobster mac and cheese with mushrooms and jalapenos.

After dinner we walked back to the Bayview and we took some time to just enjoy our deck, the weather and the view.

A great introduction to Bar Harbor! Then it was to bed early because we had to be up early the next morning for sunrise.

 

*Workout update for real time*

Sunday I was apparently going through walking withdrawal because I went on not one, not two, but THREE separate walks. First walk was 42 min, 2.59 miles and 228 cal. (with a book), walk #2 was 34 min, 1.67 miles and 173 calories (also with a book) and walk #3 was with Zach after dinner for 27 min, 1.24 miles and 115 calories. It just didn’t feel right if I didn’t walk! Driving to dinner felt plain wrong! 🙂

Monday- Back at home, back to work, back at the grind! Did my first “booty call” in a couple of weeks with my 30 minutes on the gazelle. Then after work I headed to the gym and it felt like I’d never been gone. 🙂 Did 30 minutes on the treadmill (1.89 miles) at a steep incline and that was it for the first Monday back!
